Jeffy Jahfar Poozhithara is a highly skilled software engineer and machine learning researcher with a passion for science and mathematics. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of Washington. With over 3 years of experience in the Fin-tech industry, Jeffy has built high-performance, distributed trading systems to handle the largest retail banking volume in India and innovative tools to improve developer productivity. He is proficient in Python, Java, React JS, Node JS, and C++ and has experience creating operating system agnostic releases software tools and building and integrating REST APIs and microservices. Jeffy has previously worked with IBM as a Senior Backend Developer Co-op and with FinMechanics Pte Ltd as a Software Engineer, where he gained experience with parallel programming paradigms like Spark and MapReduce and cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, ElasticSearch, and NoSQL. As part of his graduate studies, he has pioneered in automating various aspects of Software Development using machine learning and semantic web technologies for design pattern mining and predicting software vulnerabilities. Jeffy's passion for artificial intelligence and machine learning has led him to collaborate with the NASA Human Research Program on studying team dynamics in long-duration missions to build a novel AI-based predictive model for team effectiveness to be used in the Mission to Mars and Deep Space Gateway. He has hands-on experience working with AI and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Pandas, NLTK, and Scikit Learn and has a strong foundation in Data Structures and Algorithms, Web Application Development, Natural Language Processing, Text Mining, and Social Network Analysis. Apart from his technical skills, Jeffy enjoys photography, painting, and non-touristy traveling. Having traveled to over 20 countries, he believes each place has changed him a little bit. It has molded him in the way he thinks, perceives people and cultures, and his perspective towards life. Currently, Jeffy is working as a Graduate Research Assistant (NASA HRP) at the University of Washington, where he has developed a fully automated SPARQL query generator that parses UML diagrams to mine security design patterns and is collaborating with NASA Human Research Program on studying team dynamics in long-duration missions, including the Mission to Mars, to create an Artificial Intelligence system for predicting team effectiveness.
